Southern Manufacturing returns to Farnborough

Southern Manufacturing & Electronics returns to Farnborough from February 7th to 9th 2022, marking 25 years as the South’s largestmanufacturing technology exhibition.

Thousands of engineering products and services await visitors to the 20,000m² Farnborough International Exhibition Centre in Hampshire. With many of its regular exhibitors returning for 2023, the exhibition will once again field a remarkably broad exhibitor list covering the complete range of engineering activities, from high-tech machine tools and automation to components and subcontract services. Vendors from throughout the UK are presenting, as well as a considerable number of off-shore participants from across Europe, Asia and the Far East. 

While it’s pleasing to see so many firms returning to face-to-face business, Southern Manufacturing opens its doors at a uniquely challenging time for manufacturing and industrial enterprise. Rising energy costs, disrupted supply chains and ongoing skills shortages threaten to curtail efforts to rebuild businesses ravaged by the effects of the pandemic. Perhaps unsurprisingly, strategies to help deal with these challenges seem to have emerged as themes at this year’s show.

Energy efficiency in industry is also one of the topics touched upon in the shows free seminar programme. Graham Cooper delivers an insight to an extensive global energy usage reduction programme he ran for Agfa, which netted €15 million of savings. For those looking to upgrade their production hardware, Southern Manufacturing provides a first-class opportunity to see many of the latest machines in action. New exhibitors for 2023 include NCMT and Citizen Machinery. Regular exhibitors Haas Automation, Hurco, Matsuura, YMT Technologies, VLBand Mills CNC all return for 2023. XYZ Machine Tools will again be showing its XYZ SS 65 twin/sub-spindle turning centre - its first foray into multi-spindle turning centres, a move driven by demand from customers looking for increased productivity and reduced spindle downtime.The machine’s automation features are intended to improve efficiency through one-hit machining operations, and its Siemens 828D ShopTurn touchscreen control is designed to be easy to use. 

1st Machine Tool Accessoriesalso offers some automation options for raising output and maximising return on investment from machine tools. Products showcased will include the Kitagawa QJR with quick-change chuck to reduce set-up times and the Kitagawa BR for improved repeatability with T-Nut Plus (the new chucking standard). Visitors can also see V-Tech’s zero-point plates for quick-change pallet systems, Chick Workholding’s multiple component clamping for long machine running times, the Swift-Klamp for automated loading/unloading on machining centres, four- and five-axis Kitagawa rotary tables, short, long and multi-spindle IEMCA barfeeds and Halter robots for automating loading/unloading or both turning and machining centres.

Farnborough International Exhibition Centre is among Europe’s most up-to-date exhibition sites with free onsite car parking for 3,500 vehicles, as well as a dedicated free bus service between Farnborough’s train stations straight to the show. Industry-leading Speakers Announced at Europe’s Leading Lubricant Exhibition and Conference

Europe’s leading event for the lubricant industry, Lubricant Expo, has released details of its conference programme for 2022 featuring exclusive insight and leading global speakers.

The three-track conference, taking place on the 6th - 8th September 2022 at Essen, Germany, is free-to-attend and will connect lubricant solution providers with the full range of end-user buyers, as well as the entire chemical and equipment supply chain.
