ELECTRICAL INDUSTRY SUSTAINABILITY NEWS - Legrand Signs BEAMA Climate Commitment

As part of its ongoing support for the decarbonisation of the electrical industry, Legrand has signed BEAMA’s Climate Commitment to industrial decarbonisation and sustainable product development across the whole electrical industry.

The commitment has been made to support electrical industry professionals faced with the challenge of implementing energy efficient and sustainable solutions in buildings to meet Government targets for net zero emissions by 2050.

Crucial to helping contractors and consultants deliver more sustainable buildings, signing this commitment is part of Legrand’s wider aim to drive sustainability across the UK’s electrical installations, as its CEO Pascal Stutz, explains:

Beyond providing the electrical solutions and experts who can help specify and implement technologies, Legrand is also transforming its own operations to be more sustainable. For example, the company upgraded its Consett manufacturing facility using its own energy saving lighting control innovations in conjunction with solar panels to reduce the consumption of operations.

FPT Industrial Is One Of The Stars Of The Grape Harvest Festival At Fontanafredda

FPT Industrial will be one of the stars at the #Renaissance Grape Harvest Festival, to be held on Friday 10 and Saturday 11 September in the splendid setting of the Fontanafredda estate at Serralunga d’Alba (Cuneo, Italy). To add a special significance to an event already rich in appeal and atmosphere in its own right, this will be the first zero-emissions Barolo harvest.

The precious grapes of the Vigna La Rosa cru, which yield a Barolo included in the Wine Spectator Top 100, will be harvested with the aid of the first prototype New Holland TK Methane Power crawler vineyard tractor with biomethane-fueled FPT Industrial F28 Natural Gas engine.

Monitoring the charging stations

In the city of Jena, electromobility has been present in the form of a tramway in service for 120 years. Supplemented by a fleet of diesel-powered buses, an efficient public transport system has been created over time. Last year saw the introduction of e-mobility in the operation of city buses as well. Three first vehicles started regular service in 2020 to contribute to CO2 savings (53,000kg per bus and year), but also to reduce particulate matter and noise emissions in the urban area.

The attractiveness of public transport is essentially promoted and maintained by smooth and punctual operation. In this context, operations of tramways in particular require a reliable and uninterrupted power supply, which is the responsibility of the power supply department at Jenaer Nahverkehr, operator of the city’s public transport. Nevertheless, malfunctions of the system technology can occur in rare cases. In order to minimize the effects of malfunctions on the operational process as well as on the passengers, it is necessary to keep downtimes as low as possible. This is supported by a reliable control and telecontrol system implemented on the basis of the PcVue SCADA software.
